Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Procedure

Esperance Training and Assessing offers an RPL service to all students on enquiry and at enrolment.

The RPL process is a means of acknowledging competency for work, study or like skills previously acquired and which are relevant to the unit of competency.

Students who wish to apply for RPL will need to discuss this with a staff member initially, who can provide advice and support on the RPL process.

The student will then need to enrol and pay the appropriate fee (same as cost of training program).

Students are encouraged to use the support of staff in order to complete the RPL process.

Assessment for Recognition of Prior Learning must:

  • Meet the requirements of the relevant Training Package or accredited course
  • Be conducted in accordance with the principles of assessment and the rules of evidence, and
  • Meet workplace and, where relevant, regulatory requirements

Once the student has been assessed as competent, they can then be issued with a Statement of Attainment.
