Unit of Competency

TLIC3004 - Drive heavy rigid vehicle

A Heavy Rigid vehicle is:

  • A Heavy Rigid Vehicle is a vehicle 8 tones GVM and above, with 3 or more axles, including truck & bus.

 

Objectives

This course is designed to train drivers to a competent standard, which will enable them to pass the relevant assessment with a theoretical and practical driving test in the category of Heavy Rigid.

 

Entry Requirements

Drivers participating in this course must have held a LR or MR Licence for a minimum period of 12 months, OR a C class licence for at least 2 years.

Be off “P” plates to be eligible for a HR licence.

 

Duration

ETA offers two-hour lessons.

 

The HR training lessons are individualised per student ie less experienced HR operators may require additional training time. The experienced operator may require less time training before commencing the PDA (practical driving assessment).

 

 

Special Conditions

  • Applicants on Prescribed Medication or with a Medical Condition may require medical Clearance from WA Department of Transport prior to commencement.
  • Applicants with language difficulties may need a special support, hence why they will need to advice the Trainer prior to commencement.

 

 

Licence – Heavy Combination Vehicle

TLIC3005 - Drive heavy combination vehicle

A Heavy Combination vehicle is:

  • A prime move to which is attached a single semi-trailer that has a GVM more than 9 tonnes plus any unladen converter dolly; or
  • A rigid motor vehicle to which is attached a trailer that has a GVM more than 9 tonnes plus any unladen converter dolly.

 

Objectives

This course is designed to train drivers to a competent standard, which will enable them to pass the relevant assessment with a theoretical and practical driving test in the category of Heavy-Combination.

 

Entry Requirements

Drivers participating in this course must have held both a Current MR or HR Licence for a minimum period of 12 months, AND a C class licence for at least 3 years.

 

Duration

One day HC course

This short course is for experienced MR or HR operators who are experienced with road ranger gearboxes.

 

Two day HC course

This course is for less experienced MR or HR operators.

It is also suitable for experienced HR operators who are not familiar with road ranger gearboxes,

Less experienced HR operators may require some additional training time.

Hourly training is also available upon request.

Licence – Multi Combination Vehicle

TLIC4006 - Drive multi combination vehicle

A Multi Combination vehicle is:

  • a Heavy Combination vehicle with more than one trailer.

 

Objectives

This course is designed to train drivers to a competent standard, which will enable them to pass the relevant assessment with a theoretical and practical driving test in the category of Multi Combination.

 

Entry Requirements

Drivers participating in this course must have held both a HR or HC Licence for a minimum period of 12 months, AND a C class licence for at least 3 years.

 

Duration

ETA offers a course duration of 1 or 2 days.

One day MC course

This short course is for experienced HR or advanced HC operators who are well experienced with road ranger gearboxes.

 

Two day MC course

This course is for less experienced beginner HC or HR operators.

It is also suitable for experienced HR and HC operators who are unfamiliar with road ranger gearboxes.

Less experienced HR operators may require some additional training time.

Hourly training is also available upon request.
